Introduction

Echt & Skene Community Council is a volunteer body representing the residents of the Echt & Skene area.

We get involved in any local issues affecting our residents and the area they live in, ranging from bus services, road maintenance through traffic speeding problems and flooding concerns to planning applications. We coordinate summer bedding displays in our villages and can help to identify potential sources of funding for community improvement projects.

We are a statutory consultee for all planning applications in our area and we submit comments to the Aberdeenshire Council planning department if we feel it is appropriate. Our comments may be supportive if an application is likely to enhance the area or benefit the people in it. Alternatively, we may object if we feel the opposite is true. We have, for example, opposed large wind turbines that would detract from the landscape and residential amenity, and new housing estates that would significantly alter the character of our settlements. We have supported a small-scale wedding dress business and an extension to one of our village halls.

Members of the public resident in the ESCC area are welcome to attend our meetings, which commence at 7.30pm unless otherwise stated. You may have an issue you want to raise or you may just want to find out what is going on in your community.

Forthcoming Meeting Dates 2023-24:
